Shai Lavi's passion for cooking started at an early age. Born and raised in Or Yehuda, Israel, he was exposed daily to the old-fashioned cooking methods of his mother and grandmother. Everything was made from scratch, while fresh spices and produce were bought directly from the farm. Previously a business owner of a large toy store and marketing company, he could not ignore his drive to be in the kitchen. He started as a line cook and learned every aspect to run a successful kitchen. While working his way up the ladder, he realized that he feels most connected to the food he grew up eating. His company "Let's Eat!" was created because he wanted to share his recipes with the world and use his family's influence to create delicious food. Shai opened Rozina Bakehouse & Coffee to share his dedication to the industry and passion for food with all who desire the experience. The restaurant included authentic Mediterranean pastries baked in-house daily. All ingredients were locally sourced, and the menus changed seasonally.
Shai's love for diverse cuisine is mixed with a modern take on Mediterranean comfort food while providing vivacious hospitality and infectious joie de vivre. Shai believes that a chef's food is a culinary direct connection to the farms, shepherds, and fishermen and is concisely displayed on a plate. His dishes are as familiar and comforting as a warm hug from an old friend.
The Third Space was created to provide an experience with an atmosphere of being at home while giving the feeling of being part of a community you've always known and loved. Partnering with local farmers and fishermen allows for there to be no menu. The chef's menu consists of the freshest produce and proteins brought on the day of. Shai works hand in hand with helping to raise the farm animals and planting seeds on his part of the land.
