Our Story

Local ingredients, global flavors

Since gaining ownership of The Third Space in October 2022, our goal has been to create a fine dining experience that is warm instead of pretentious and inclusive rather than exclusive. Our mission is to provide a fine dining experience that captures the essence of stepping into someone's home. In all that we do, we aim to create something bigger than ourselves. We do so through our honest, open, and transparent approach to cooking and hospitality. Through our open concept kitchen, we give our guests a firsthand look at what goes into creating every dish through our open concept kitchen. 


We believe that the best things in life aren't rushed but savored, which is why we have one sitting a night. Each visit to The Third Space promises the ideal backdrop for heartfelt conversations, contagious laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime. 


We offer fine dining as it should be: unapologetically authentic, irresistibly fresh, and undeniably delicious. And it's all possible thanks to Chef Shai and Karen Lavi.


Meet Shai Lavi

Chef Shai Lavi's culinary journey is not only a celebration of flavors but also a testament to his deep-rooted connection to family traditions and a commitment to culinary excellence. Influenced by the from-scratch cooking methods of his mother and grandmother in Or Yehuda, Israel, Chef Shai's culinary philosophy revolves around fresh spices and locally sourced produce. 


Before he stepped into the kitchen, Chef Shai's journey took him through owning a large toy store and a marketing company, but his passion for food led him into the culinary world. Encouraged by the unwavering support of his wife, Karen, Chef Shai started as a line cook and immersed himself in every aspect of kitchen operations, determined to master the craft.


While he climbed the culinary ladder, Chef Shai discovered a profound connection to the flavors of his upbringing. This connection inspired the creation of his company, "Let's Eat!,” where he began sharing his family’s recipes with the world. Further motivated by his roots, his love of his growing family, and passion for creating delicious food, Chef Shai opened Rozina Bakehouse & Coffee. There, guests were treated to an array of authentic Mediterranean pastries, lovingly baked in-house daily.


Through it all, Chef Shai’s commitment to using the freshest local ingredients hasn’t changed. He embraces the flavors of the seasons and supports both community members and causes. By sourcing ingredients from nearby farms and producers, he not only ensures the highest quality but also fosters a sense of community and sustainability.


Beyond the kitchen, Chef Shai actively contributes to local causes and initiatives, embodying a spirit of generosity and compassion. Throughout his culinary journey, he not only delights diners but also leaves a positive impact on the community he serves.


Above all else, he cherishes his family–his wife Karen and three children, Gabriel, Gianna, and Raphael.
